If you’ve been enjoying slightly cooler weather and the promise of weekend football games you already know: autumn is upon us! And while this time of year can be particularly busy for families with school-aged children, it’s important to make sure you get some quality family time in between homework, school plays and soccer practice.
Family Fun This Fall
Here are some fun things the entire family will enjoy this season:
1. Get lost in a corn maze
This is the only time of year you’ll want to find yourself lost in agriculture. Take the family for some a-maze-ing fun this fall.
2. Take a hot air balloon ride
With the weather mild and the skies clear, autumn is the perfect time to try something you’ve never done; a hot air balloon ride is something the whole family can enjoy together.
3. Make matching costumes
Ready for Halloween? This year, try a family theme, and get the kids in on making coordinating costumes. Think Scooby Doo, The Wizard of Oz, The Adams Family or a zombie family!
A pickup truck or SUV, a grill and some yummy food; that’s all you need to make an autumn weekend memorable.
5. Go camping
It’s not too late in the season to enjoy a weekend in the outdoors. Take a few extra blankets and be sure you’re stocked on firewood before heading out.
6. Help out a neighbor
Doing service as a family will make everyone feel great. Fall is a great time to lend a hand raking leaves or clearing gutters.
7. Shop at the farmer’s market
Get the kids excited about healthy eating. Fall is the best time to eat fresh, local produce. Take the kids to the farmer’s market and let them pick what’s next for dinner.
8. Make pumpkin anything
Pumpkin is the flavor of fall. Make a pie, bread, muffins or cookies as a family… then enjoy your hard work!
9. Cheer on the team
A no-effort way to spend some time together is to make the most of the Sunday or Monday NFL game. Root for your favorite team and make special snacks and treats for game time.
10. Take a hayride
No one can resist a hay ride. Now is the only time of year you’ll be able to do it!
Your turn! How are you and your family spending autumn?
